Challenge

Could an AI companion help adults rediscover their creative spark? Building on research into the fear of failure, perfectionism and busy lives that hold people back, I set myself a playful experiment: turn an LLM into a digital product that makes getting creative feel less daunting and more fun.

Process

Building on existing research from eight interviews with creative professionals, I audited chatbot and prompt-based products (ChatGPT, HubSpot, Casper, Dudel Draw, Brainsparker, Zoe) to extract design patterns and common features, and iterated quickly through mood boards, logo exploration, and typography and colour system refinement.

Solution

I designed a concept built around emotional support first. The experience uses historical creative personas as “companions,” benefit-led onboarding that frames the emotional payoff before features, and a clear home page structure across Companions, Studio, and Chat. I paired it with a visual identity that feels playful but credible for adults.

Impact

The experiment took shape as Creative Companion: a playful product concept pairing historical creative personalities with encouragement, prompts and a place to start. It also challenged my starting assumption. AI could offer a nudge, but the next version would put human connection at its heart; bringing people together through shared creative activities and real-world meet-ups.
